Stands for alternating current. It differs from DC because it has frequency meaning that voltage goes up and down many times per second.
AC electricity is the type of electricity found in the home.
It’s found at power outlets, switches and most other household electrical fittings and appliances.
Due to the risks of fire and electric shock with AC electricity, rules are laid out in Electrical Safety Regulations 2010 and ASNZS:3000:2007 regarding safe installation, connection and maintenance of wiring systems containing AC electricity.
