An earth pin, also known as earth electrode is a metal rod inserted into the ground. Usually located near the building.
An earth pin is connected to the main earth wire, which in turn connects to the main earth bar in your switchboard.
Because the earthing system is essential for clearing electrical faults and ensuring protective devices like MCBs and RCDs to operate, earth pins must be of a type laid out in ASNZS:3000:2007 – section 5.3.6.
