A main switch turns off (isolates) power to an electrical system.
The main switch has the mains cable terminated into it and turns off all circuits downstream from it which could also contain any number of sub switchboards.
The main switch must be labeled legibly as MAIN SWITCH to be quickly identified.
Main switches must be located a minimum of 1.2 m above ground according to ASNZS:3000:2007.
