Located in the switchboard, the MEN is a link between the main neutral bar and the earth bar linking the earthing system to neutral.
This ensures that the potential difference between earth and neutral is the same.
The MEN link is why a voltmeter should be reading 0 volts between neutral and earth.
An insulation resistance test between neutral and earth will show a connection exists (0 M ohms).
