Resistance can be explained as something that slows current down.
Resistance causes voltage to drop and energy to be lost as heat.
An electricians job is to ensure that resistance is not too high (such as using the correct cable size for the length of cable required).
Keeping resistance low also means making sure that terminations are tight (no loose wires or fuses). Loose wires or bad terminations will increase resistance.
Other sources of resistance can come from capacitors and inductors in a circuit. Resolving this requires adding capacitors or inductors to a circuit to ‘balance’ it out.
