    Single phase is a single electrical AC wavelength.

    In standard domestic situations, this is 230 volts to earth.

    Standard household supply is 63A single phase.

    If you only have single phase power, you cannot run three phase motors unless you do it via a VSD and the three phase motor is rated at 230 volts.

    To check if you have single phase power, Here is what you can do. First, is to check your electrical meter.

    If you have a digital meter, there will be one LED flashing if there is single phase power, and three LEDs flashing if you have three phase power.
